After breakfast, we’ll leave Marrakech and set off on an unforgettable drive through the majestic High Atlas Mountains, following the winding Tizi N'Tichka pass at 2,260 meters an engineering marvel built by the French Foreign Legion in 1936. Along the way, enjoy sweeping mountain views before arriving at the iconic village of Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO listed kasbah famed for its cinematic history.
As we cross the dry riverbed, our journey leads us to Ouarzazate often called the “Hollywood of Morocco” where you’ll have the chance to discover the captivating Cinema Museum and explore the town’s rich film history. The journey then takes us past the grand kasbahs of Skoura and into the fragrant Valley of the Roses, known for its blooming beauty and vibrant Rose Festival each May.
As we pass through charming Berber villages and fields tended by local women, the peaks of the Atlas Mountains offer a dramatic backdrop. By late afternoon, we’ll reach the striking Dades Gorges, where a peaceful overnight stay awaits amidst awe inspiring natural scenery.
Dades Valley- Tinghir - Merzouga
Valley to marvel at the peculiar rock formations famously known as “monkey toes.” As we journey toward Tinghir and into the Todra Valley, you’ll take in panoramic views of centuries old Berber mud villages clinging to the valley’s edges.
At Todra Gorge, stroll beneath the towering 300 meter red cliffs an awe inspiring haven for rock climbers. Between Tinjdad and Erfoud, we’ll visit a traditional underground irrigation system that once channeled cool water beneath the arid earth, a testament to ingenious desert farming. In Erfoud, a town renowned for fossils, we’ll stop to explore how ancient marine life has been transformed into intricate artifacts. After a Berber style lunch in a local village, we’ll press on to the golden sea of Erg Chebbi.
There, you’ll meet your camel caravan and set off across the rolling dunes, guided by local camel men. Take a moment to pause atop a towering dune and soak in the breathtaking sunset, before continuing onward to your desert camp for the night. As night falls, enjoy a hearty dinner and gather around the fire for live Berber music under a sky ablaze with stars an evening of magic and connection in the heart of the Sahara.
Full day in Merzouga
Wake up early to catch the breathtaking desert sunrise one of the most magical moments in Erg Chebbi before returning to camp for a refreshing shower and a hearty breakfast. Then, your off road desert adventure begins as we explore the surrounding region. You'll visit nomadic families who live near the dunes, offering a glimpse into their resilient way of life in the harsh Sahara environment, while sharing a warm cup of mint tea with them.
We’ll then head to the M'Fis mines, set on a high plateau where stunning panoramic views of the dunes stretch endlessly. The journey continues to Khamlia, known as the Gnaoua Village, where you'll be welcomed with hypnotic traditional music performed by locals whose roots trace back to Central and West Africa.
After absorbing their rich culture, enjoy a delicious lunch of traditional Berber pizza. The day also includes a visit to Dayet Sarji Lake, a seasonal oasis that draws flamingos and desert wildlife in spring.
Merzouga - Ziz Valley - Ifrane - Fes
After enjoying a hearty breakfast, we’ll depart from your accommodation and begin our journey to Fes, traveling through a tapestry of landscapes that beautifully reflect Morocco’s diverse and dynamic geography.Our first highlight is the sweeping Ziz Valley an endless ribbon of lush palm groves dotted with ancient Ksours (fortified villages).
From there, we ascend the Tizi N'Talghamt Pass, known as the “Pass of the She Camel,” and continue into the majestic High Atlas Mountains, reaching the charming town of Midelt. Here, we’ll pause for lunch and refresh with a traditional cup of mint tea.
